Honey-Doers

The Honey-Doer group began in April 2000.  The first Monday morning group had five in attendence.  (At that time, the only church cleaning was done by Lutz School students.)   Our small group began meeting on Monday and Tuesday each week.  More people began offering their time, and in November we went to just Moday morning.

We have done, and continue to do, basic cleaning throughout the church building and grounds.  The men especially like projects:  changing light bulbs, ballasts, painting, new floor tile, courtyard patio, gazebo, replacement of light fixtures, window washing, waxing floors, etc.  In 2015,  the gardens were plotted and put out for "adoption" for the gardeners within the congregation.  Those participating and those who enjoyed the benefits felt It worked well!  We all agreed to try it again this year.  The Honey-Doers also enjoy decorating the hallway, Agape fellowship Hall, and the gazebo for the Christmas Season.

Donut and coffee time each Monday are especially enjoyed.  This is a time of friendship and caring for one another after a morning of work.  These times of sharing have brought about the Pastor's Sock Fund- providing discretionary funds for the pastor to give to those in need that come to the office for help; in addtion, a second Sock Fund that gives real socks to for those who find themselves homeless.  We help the Dorcas Circle with Funeral luncheons, put on a Christmas Dinner each year, host the Afterglows for choir concerts, and become involved in other events as needed.  Once a year we have a field trip to visit one of our retirees who moved to the Thumb Area.

Our newest endeavor is Bible Study at 11:00 am, led by our Pastor.  The study uses different books to open our minds and hearts to God's Living Word in new ways, and is open to anyone interested in joining us.

We average 15-20 Honey-Doers each week.  Over the years, the group has forwarded a number of good workers to God's heavenly workplace, who are greatly missed.
